When Plan A Didn’t Fit

Not every pathway works first time.

For some young adults, the years after school can feel uncertain. A route is tried. An opportunity explored. But something doesn’t quite click. Confidence dips. Motivation stalls. Structure begins to slip.

At Edge Group Scotland, we work with young adults who have learning disabilities, are autistic and/or have other additional support needs (ASN) who need a structured, specialist environment to regain direction and rebuild momentum.

Our Life Programme (20–35) is designed for exactly that stage.

A Structured Reset — With Purpose

The Life Programme is a specialist supported day programme rooted in high-quality, person-centred social care. It provides consistency, meaningful activity and clear expectations — creating an environment where confidence can grow and capability can develop.

This is not about “filling time”.

It is about building:

  • Independence
    Workplace readiness

  • Physical and mental wellbeing

  • Social confidence

  • Recognised, accredited achievement

Every participant has individual goals. For some, that may mean employment. For others, volunteering, further learning or greater independence at home. The programme is designed to support progression towards those outcomes in a way that is realistic, sustainable and properly supported.

Social Care First. Accredited Outcomes Embedded.

From July 2026, all programmes at Edge integrate recognised, accredited awards through our Qualifications Scotland* Approved Centre status.

These qualifications are embedded within real activities — not abstract classroom exercises. Participants develop skills through practical experience: community engagement, enterprise projects, outdoor learning, teamwork and problem-solving.

The accreditation reflects genuine growth.

But the core remains structured, specialist support delivered by an experienced team who understand different learning styles and support needs.

*The SQA has become Qualifications Scotland (QS), Scotland’s new national awarding body.

Real-World Experience That Builds Confidence

Progress often begins with small, consistent wins:

  • Turning up on time

  • Completing a task from start to finish

  • Working alongside peers

  • Taking feedback

  • Trying something new

Over time, these moments compound. Confidence grows. Routine strengthens. Health improves. Participants who may have felt stuck begin to see forward movement again.

We also place strong emphasis on wellbeing — physical activity, outdoor opportunities, practical skills such as cooking and budgeting, and the development of healthy routines that support long-term independence.

Belonging Matters

Isolation can quietly erode confidence. Many young adults benefit enormously from being part of a peer group with shared purpose and understanding.

The Life Programme provides a socially safe environment where individuals are supported to engage, contribute and be valued members of a team. That sense of belonging is often the catalyst for wider progression.

Progression with Purpose

The Life Programme is not an endpoint.

It is a structured environment designed to build capability, confidence and direction.

For some participants, progression leads to supported or open employment.
For others, it may involve volunteering, further learning or alternative internal pathways aligned to their long-term goals.

What matters is that progression is individual, realistic and properly supported — not rushed, not assumed, and never one-size-fits-all.

Choosing a different route in your twenties is not a setback. In many cases, it is the moment when things begin to align properly — with the right support, the right environment and the right expectations in place.

July Intake – Referrals Open

All programmes at Edge begin in July, with the referral deadline being 29th May 2026.

If you are supporting a young adult aged 20–35 who would benefit from structured specialist social care, meaningful real-world experience and recognised accredited outcomes, the Life Programme may offer the right environment to reset, rebuild and progress.
