Edge Achieves SQA Approval

Strengthening Pathways to Independence

We’re thrilled to announce that Edge Group Scotland is now an approved SQA Centre β€” a milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred social care for young adults who have learning disabilities, are autistic and/or have other additional support needs (ASN).

This approval strengthens the work we already do across our specialist supported day services, opening up new opportunities for participants to have their skills, progress and achievements recognised through nationally accredited awards.

It’s a moment we’re extremely proud of β€” and one that signals even more to come.

What This Means for Young Adults and Families

For too many young adults, the transition into adulthood comes with limited, inconsistent or unsuitable options. At Edge, we have always believed in something better β€” a place where learning is meaningful, progress is celebrated, and every young person is supported to build a future they can be proud of.

Becoming an SQA-approved centre reinforces that belief.

This isn’t about turning Edge into an education provider β€” we remain firmly rooted in specialist social care.

Instead, it enhances what social care can be when independence, confidence and real-world skills are placed at the centre.

β€œBecoming an approved SQA centre is far more than an accreditation β€” it’s a statement of intent. At Edge, we believe positive destinations should be real, meaningful and genuinely life-changing. Our young adults deserve challenge, dignity and opportunities that build true independence.

This approval strengthens our vision of social care as a space where ambition comes first. It allows us to recognise the real-world skills our young adults are already developing β€” confidence, resilience, responsibility and community contribution.

For me, this is about opening doors that have been closed for too long and raising expectations for what our young adults can achieve. Becoming an SQA centre gives them the platform they deserve and moves us closer to a future built on purpose, pride and possibility.”

A Strengthened Pathway Across All Our Day Services

From the first steps into adulthood right through to more complex, reflective learning opportunities, our programmes now benefit from the structure and recognition SQA awards bring.

This includes:

  • accreditation that reflects real experiences and achievements

  • opportunities for personalised progress

  • space for reflection, ownership and growth

  • clearer pathways towards independence, employability and positive destinations

The introduction of Edge Academy adds an exciting progression route for young adults who are looking to build their learning, independence and responsibility in a higher-level context β€” and our July 2026 pilot is already full. Referrals for January 2027 are now open.

Looking Ahead: The Future We’re Building Together

This milestone represents our belief in what young adults can achieve when they’re supported, recognised and encouraged to thrive. It enhances the experience we offer, deepens the impact of our programmes and opens doors to future opportunities for the people who matter most β€” our participants.

Becoming an SQA-approved centre is a major step forward β€” but it is only one part of the journey ahead.

We are excited, energised and ready for what comes next.
