10 Years of Believing, Transforming and Achieving.

Ten years in, and we’re just getting started.

This is the story of what Edge stands for β€” and where the next decade is taking us.

In 2026, Edge turns 10

Reaching ten years is a milestone few organisations ever achieve β€” particularly in social care. It represents resilience, learning, growth and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way, even when it would have been easier not to.

Over the past decade, Edge has grown from a strong belief into a trusted organisation supporting young adults to build confidence, independence and real-world skills that matter. Our support and programmes have evolved, our ambition has expanded, and our impact has deepened β€” but our purpose has never changed.

What 10 Years Represents

Ten years of Edge is not about looking back for the sake of it.
It’s about recognising what sustained, thoughtful support can achieve over time.

It represents:

  • belief in potential, not limitations

  • learning that happens in real life, not just on paper

  • progress that is personal, practical and meaningful

  • consistency, structure and high expectations

  • young adults being supported to move forward in ways that work for them

Every programme, partnership and pathway we offer today has been shaped by this learning.

Why the Next Decade Matters

This tenth year is not a finish line β€” it’s a launch point πŸš€.

As we move into our next decade, Edge is entering its strongest phase yet:

These developments don’t change who we are β€” they build on everything we’ve learned over the past ten years.

A Year of Reflection, Growth and Looking Forward

Throughout 2026, we’ll be sharing the story of Edge at ten β€” not as a single moment, but as a year-long journey.

Each instalment explores a different part of what makes Edge what it is today:

  • our beliefs

  • our programmes

  • our community connections

  • our approach to skills for life

  • and how we’re building the next decade of opportunity

This space will grow month by month, reflecting where we’ve come from β€” and, more importantly, where we’re going.

10 Years Strong.

… And just getting started.

Our Story So Far…

2016

πŸ’‘ Where It Began

Edge kicked off in Sam’s spare room with a big belief: young adults deserve support that builds confidence, independence and real-world skills β€” outdoors, hands-on and properly person-centred.

2017

🌱 Shaping Our Approach

Our first 1:1 support client helped shape how Edge works β€” practical, outdoors-led and built around real life. Believe. Transform. Achieve. wasn’t just a tagline; it became our compass.

2018

🏠 Putting Down Roots

Edge outgrew the spare room. As the team and support grew, we moved into our home at Eskmills β€” a small but important step towards more structured delivery.

2019

πŸ₯Ύ Growing Through Doing

1:1 support expanded across East Lothian and beyond, with watersports and outdoor learning fully embedded. Confidence grew through doing β€” not sitting still.

2020

🧭 Staying the Course

Edge Adventures launched β€” then the pandemic hit. Support didn’t stop. We adapted, stayed consistent, and got back outdoors safely as soon as we could.

2021

🎯 Confidence in Action

Adventures and outdoor learning became core to life at Edge. Young adults pushed boundaries, built confidence and achieved things they never thought possible.

2022

🌍 Widening Horizons

Edge went international with supported adventures and became a fully accredited adaptive paddleboarding school β€” widening opportunities and strengthening specialist outdoor provision.

2023

βš™οΈ A Turning Point

A turning-point year. The Transitions Programme launched, creating a full-time vocational pathway for school leavers who are autistic, have learning disabilities and/or other and ASN β€” alongside unforgettable international adventures.

2024

πŸ› οΈ Expanding Pathways

The Life Programme launched for young adults aged 20–35, expanding supported pathways. New facilities, including a teaching kitchen, strengthened everyday independence skills.

2025

πŸš€ The Biggest Year Yet

Edge’s biggest year yet. Edge Woods came to life, SQA centre approval was secured, partnerships grew, and the foundations were laid for accredited qualifications and new programme pathways in 2026 and beyond.
