Edge Life Programme

Referrals Now Open - Next Intake: January 2026

The Edge Life Programme is a specialist supported day service for young adults aged 20–35 who have learning disabilities, are autistic and/or have other additional support needs (ASN). Designed to build confidence, independence and real-world skills, it provides a holistic and vocational approach that supports each individual to move towards their positive destinations.

Participants work towards SQA awards, delivered through personalised, practical learning experiences that strengthen confidence, independence and the skills needed for everyday life.

This is a 1-year programme, delivered over three days* each week (22.5 hours), Monday to Thursday, across 48 weeks of the year.

Life Programme: Skills for Life, Learning & Work

Who is eligible for Edge Life?

All Edge Life Programme participants must;

  • Be between the ages of 20 and 35 years old

  • Have one or more of the following:

    • a learning disability

    • be autistic

    • other additional support needs (ASN)Be able to communicate verbally

  • Be self-ambulatory

  • Be willing to take part in outdoor activities

  • Be able to understand and follow safety instructions

  • Be able to attend to their own personal care and take their own medication

  • Have an appointed person who will communicate digitally with Edge Group Scotland’s Day Services Team

  • Be able to work in a group in a group environment

  • Be able to manage apps and communicate via mobile phone and iPad*

  • Involved in their own plan and want to plan their individual future

  • Be able to travel to and from Edge HQ in Musselburgh on timetabled days (3 days per week)

  • Be eligible for funding through their local social work department

SQA Accredited Pathways

We offer structured programmes where participants gain SQA-accredited qualifications as part of their individual journey to independence. As an approved SQA centre, our experienced practitioners provide the support young adults need to build confidence, develop independence and gain meaningful real-world skills.
