Edinburgh Self Storage Gets Behind the Expedition
Big challenge. Big backing. Edinburgh Self Storage was one of the first businesses to get behind the Edge to Edge Expedition - and we are incredibly proud to have them on board as an Expedition Partner.
As we continue to shine a spotlight on the organisations helping make our biggest challenge yet possible, it is time to introduce another of our Expedition Partners: Edinburgh Self Storage.
A familiar name in the capital, Edinburgh Self Storage now operates from two locations across the city: its original home at the landmark Jenners Depository on Balgreen Road, near Murrayfield, and its second facility on Bonnington Road, near Canonmills and Leith.
And if you know Edinburgh, there is a good chance you know the Jenners Depository.
The distinctive red-brick building was constructed in 1925 for the Jenners department store and remains one of the area’s most recognisable landmarks. Today, it houses a modern self-storage facility supporting individuals, families and businesses through everything from house moves and renovations to business growth and the simple need for a little more space.
Edinburgh Self Storage Expands Operations
In 2024, Edinburgh Self Storage expanded across the city with the opening of its Bonnington Road branch, responding to growing demand and bringing the same secure, flexible storage service to another part of Edinburgh.
Inspired by the work behind the challenge
Edinburgh Self Storage’s support for the Expedition comes from a genuine appreciation of the work Edge Group Scotland does and the opportunities we create for young adults across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Managing Director Simon Hodgson has known Edge and our work for a number of years, and there is also a longstanding personal connection through our Marketing Manager, Claire, who worked with Simon and the Edinburgh Self Storage team for more than a decade.
When the Edge to Edge Expedition began to take shape, Simon quickly saw the bigger picture behind the challenge; not just the 50+ miles, but the reason for taking it on and the lasting impact a third minibus could have.
Edinburgh Self Storage was one of the earliest businesses to step forward as an Expedition Partner, providing significant financial backing and helping us turn an ambitious idea into something very real.
Their support is helping us move closer to our £20,000 target while creating even more opportunities for the young adults at the heart of Edge.

Backing something bigger
The Edge to Edge Expedition will see Team Edge paddle and portage more than 50 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh over two days on one Mega-SUP.
But, as ever, the challenge itself is only part of the story.
Our programme groups are actively involved in bringing the Expedition to life, from planning and fundraising to communications, support roles and paddling sections of the route. At the same time, every pound raised takes us closer to a third minibus and the additional real-world opportunities that vehicle could unlock.
