Edge to Edge Expedition

10 Years of Going Further

For ten years, Edge Group Scotland has helped young adults go further β€” further in their confidence, independence, skills and aspirations.

Now we're going further together.

To celebrate our tenth year, TeamEdge and programme participants are taking on the Edge to Edge Expedition β€” a unique paddling challenge designed to support the continued growth of our specialist supported programmes and help create even more opportunities for the young adults we support.

Every mile paddled will help support future opportunities, experiences and journeys towards independence.

The Challenge

The Edge to Edge Expedition is a unique paddling challenge that will bring together TeamEdge and programme participants in a shared journey across Scotland.

Created as part of our tenth year celebrations, the expedition reflects the very values that sit at the heart of Edge Group Scotland β€” confidence, resilience, teamwork, determination and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.

This isn't simply about reaching a destination.

It's about working together, supporting one another, overcoming challenges and demonstrating what can be achieved when people are given the opportunity to grow, develop and believe in their own potential.

Throughout the journey, staff and programme participants will paddle side-by-side, showcasing the skills, confidence and independence that are developed every day through our specialist supported programmes.

The Edge to Edge Expedition is a celebration of how far we've come over the last ten years β€” and a commitment to helping create opportunities for young adults attending Edge Group Scotland now and in the years ahead.

Supported by Scottish Canals

We're delighted to have the support of Scottish Canals as we prepare for the Edge to Edge Expedition.

The Lowland canal network will form a key part of our journey, including one of Scotland's most iconic engineering achievements β€” The Falkirk Wheel, where we'll transition between canal levels as part of the expedition.

Their support is helping make this unique challenge possible, and we're incredibly grateful to Scottish Canals for joining us as we celebrate ten years of helping young adults go further.

Thank you for your support and for being part of the journey.

Why We're Raising Funds

The Edge to Edge Expedition is raising funds towards a much-needed third minibus..

Transport plays a vital role in everything we do.

From volunteering placements and employability experiences to outdoor activities, community projects and accredited learning opportunities, transport enables young adults to access the real-world experiences that help build confidence, independence and future-ready skills.

As our programmes continue to grow, so does the need for additional transport capacity.

Every contribution will help us move closer to providing more opportunities, more experiences and more pathways towards independence for the young adults we support.

Why Transport Matters

Transport is much more than simply getting from A to B.

It is often the key that unlocks opportunity.

Every week, our programme participants travel across East Lothian, Edinburgh and beyond to access volunteering opportunities, employability experiences, outdoor learning, travel training, community projects and accredited learning activities.

These experiences help develop confidence, communication, problem-solving, adaptability and independence in real-world environments.

A third minibus will help ensure more young adults can continue accessing the opportunities that make our programmes so impactful.

Support the Expedition

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help support the continued growth of opportunities for the young adults attending Edge Group Scotland's specialist supported programmes.

Our Goal

🎯 Raise £20,000 towards a third minibus

A third minibus will help create more opportunities, more experiences and more pathways towards independence for the young adults we support.

Together, we can help create more experiences, more opportunities and more pathways towards independence.

Edge to Edge Expedition FAQs

Why are you fundraising?

1

Edge Group Scotland is an independent social care provider rather than a charity. While we deliver specialist supported programmes for young adults who have learning disabilities, are autistic and/or have other additional support needs (ASN), we do not have access to many of the charitable funding streams available to third-sector organisations.

The Edge to Edge Expedition gives individuals, businesses and supporters the opportunity to contribute directly towards creating more opportunities and experiences for the young adults we support.

Where will the funds go?

2

All funds raised through the Edge to Edge Expedition will directly contribute towards an additional vehicle for our transport fleet, helping support the continued growth of our specialist supported programmes and increasing access to community-based learning, volunteering, employability experiences and outdoor activities.

How can I support the expedition?

3

You can support the expedition by donating, sharing our fundraising campaign, following our progress and helping us spread the word.

How can businesses support the Edge to Edge Expedition?

4

We're currently developing a range of sponsorship opportunities for businesses that would like to support the Edge to Edge Expedition.

Whether through financial support, products, services or other contributions, we'd love to hear from organisations interested in being part of the journey.

Please get in touch to discuss the sponsorship opportunities available. Drop Claire, claire@edgegroupscotland.com , an email and she will get back in touch to discuss the options further.
